Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Bulk Operations Manager, the Fleet Supervisor plays a key role in recruiting, onboarding, and training new drivers and operators, while assisting with the coordination and execution of operational plans. The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for allocating and overseeing resources, including personnel and equipment, to meet customer commitments while ensuring safety, productivity, compliance, and cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities

• Foster positive relationships with drivers, operators, mechanics, dispatchers, and customers.
• Lead initiatives to improve safety and operational performance while maximizing job satisfaction for frontline workers.
• Monitor and evaluate driver and operator performance through onsite inspections and provide training, coaching, and mentoring.
• Collaborate with the maintenance and operations teams to optimize fleet utilization and efficiency.
• Take an active role in scheduling, dispatching, and safety management.
• Promote and uphold company core values by leading through example.

Job Duties

• Assist in onboarding new drivers and equipment operators, including interviews, writing job offers, and guiding new hires through the process.
• Work closely with the Bulk Operations Manager to oversee daily dispatch operations, addressing challenges such as schedule delays, road conditions, breakdowns, or production changes.
• Maintain proficiency with dispatch scheduling, billing systems, and safety tools.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate drivers and equipment operators.
• Ensure drivers and operators have clear instructions for safe and effective performance, addressing and resolving concerns proactively.
• Analyze fleet and driver performance metrics (e.g., payloads, production, fuel economy, safety scores) and provide constructive feedback to improve outcomes.
• Conduct safety meetings, deliver training, and contribute to incident investigations and vehicle recoveries.
• Address inquiries from customers, drivers, and the public with empathy and professionalism.
• Support the safety administrator in monitoring compliance systems and providing workers with feedback.
• Recognize and reward high-performing drivers and operators.
• Provide feedback to the Bulk Operations Manager on unresolved driver issues that may require further action.
• Stay current with industry regulations, best practices, and trends through meetings, workshops, and reading.

Working Conditions

• Based in Whitecourt, Alberta, with a mix of office work and field supervision.
• Rotating “on-call” responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Travel required to project locations throughout Alberta, with occasional travel to adjacent provinces for short periods.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• 3–5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in trucking or equipment contracting industries.
• Post-secondary education or evidence of ongoing professional development is preferred.
• Proven leadership and supervisory record.
• Class 1 Driver’s License and mechanical knowledge/aptitude are assets.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Office Suite, Google Workspace, and the ability to learn custom applications is essential.

Pay: $90,000–$115,000 per year
